ELIGIBILITY AND EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

(i) Female Children of Bonafide Himachali/ Himachal Govt. employees and employees of Autonomous bodies wholly or partially financed by the Himachal Pradesh Government will only be eligible to apply for admission to 4 years B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course through Entrance Test to be conducted by Atal Medical and Research University, HP, at Near chowk., Distt. Mandi, HP.

(ii) For filling up of 50% Management Quota Seats in Private un-aided B.Sc. Nursing Colleges in State of Himachal Pradesh, there will be no requirement of being Himachali Bonafide. Under this quota, both Himachali and Non- Himachali interested candidates can compete in the entrance test subject to fulfillment of minimum educational qualifications and age criteria as prescribed in the prospectus. Note: The above candidates should be Indian National.

(iii) The age of candidates should be between 17 to 35 years as on 31st December, 2023 .Age as recorded in the matriculation certificate will be entertained.

(iv) Admission to married candidates will be allowed subject to production of medical fitness certificate.

(v) A candidate should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination from H.P. Board of School Education/AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or any other Board/University established by law in India in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually with 45%marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination. The candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination will be 40% instead of 45% as stated above. Provided further that English is a compulsory subject in 10+2 for being eligible for admission to B.Sc.(Nursing) course. The candidate should be medically fit.

Note:-  The above qualifications will only determine the eligibility of a candidate for admission, but the actual basis of admission shall be on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate(s) in the Entrance Test

Nutrition lab

With array of all essential articles & information nutrition lab is ready to enrich students with knowledge& skills related to therapeutic meal planning to preparation.

Pre Clinical Science Lab

Showcasing various anatomical models, torsos and charts are here to elucidate different aspects of human anatomy & physiology.  Instruments like microscopes, slides & chemical reagents help students to understand various microbiological concepts and their importance in health & illness.

Maternal & Child Health Nursing Lab

This lab offers opportunity to learn about different stages of labor, physical & physiological changes during pregnancy,  process of child birth & other diseased conditions related to maternal & Child health. To facilitate teaching & learning this lab is armed with latest simulators & mannequins.

Community Health Nursing lab

College lab is fully furnished & equipped with all essential articles to understand structure & function of a community . This lab intend to teach about preventive nursing measures to enhance health & reduce morbidity.

Advance Nursing Lab

This lab is developed to give as real picture of an modern ICU as possible. It has facilities like CPR dummies, ventilator, defibrillator, cardiac monitor ect so that student can practice various advance nursing procedures and be proficient in handling emergency situations like cardiac arrest.

Computer lab

Latest computers as per INC norms with seamless  24 x 7 WiFi enabled campus make information & literature available to students. This lab facilitate students to understand basic technicalities related to computers and  its use in health settings.

A.V Aids. Lab

This lab is furnished with myriads of  audio visual aids used in nursing education. This lab elucidate what, when & where an A. V. Aid can be used to make teaching learning process effective & interesting.

LIBRARY

The library and information services play a vital role in supporting  teaching and learning activities. Library at this institute bring forth resources and encourages the thinking process, creativity, inquisitiveness and makes the learning more fruitful. Our magnificent library includes up to date and well balanced collection of over 2000 books including latest text books, journals & reference books. The library is well equipped with modern facilities such as internet and Xerox machine.

Parent Hospital

Vivekanand Medical Institute is our parent hospital. Students are provided with wide ranging  clinical experience in parent hospital as well as other affiliated hospitals via bedside rounds, demonstration, case presentation, case study, clinical teaching, OSCE, etc. budding nurses are convoyed by skilled mentors.

 Hostel

A home away from home. Hostel facility is mandatory for students. The institution hostel is embellished with beautiful surrounding also ensures privacy & homely environment. Rooms are spacious, airy & offer congenial academic environment for the students. and indoor games. Hostel is compact with only single gate having full security. No one can enter the premises without proper authorization, which is further verified.

CODE OF CONDUCT

Rules & Regulations in College Campus

Each Student should report at exact time for classes as well as in clinical area.

Uniform is mandatory while on duty in clinical area.

No jewelry, Ornament or make-up is allowed in clinical area.

Academic Assessment The annual examination for each year shall be held in the month of July/August on dates fixed by the AMRU. For failed/ reappear candidates a supplementary examination shall be held in November/ December.

To appear for annual examination, candidates must fulfill the following conditions:

i. Has been on the college roll for one academic year preceding the examination.

ii. Has a good moral character as certified by the Principal.

iii. Has a minimum of 80% attendance (irrespective of the kind of absence) in theory and practical in each subject for appearing for examination.

Internal Assessment

  1. Internal assessment marks in each subject shall be reserved as under a) each theory paper 25 percent marks b) each practical 50 percent marks
  2. The practical work done by each student during the year shall be recorded in a log book, which must be attested by subject coordinator and the Principal and presented to the examiners at the time of practical examination.
  3.  Internal assessment in each subject shall be allotted on the basis of day to day class work, periodic examinations both theory and practical, attendance, discipline and general behaviour of the student through out the year.
  4.  Internship means 8 hours of integrated clinical duties in which two weeks of evening and night shift duties are included.
  5.  Students are required to complete 24 weeks of Internship during the course.
  6.  Students doing internship will be supervised by the teachers.
  7.  The student is only eligible to appear for the fourth year final examination after completing internship
  8. The practical work done by each student during the year shall be recorded in a log book, which must be attested by subject coordinator and presented to the examiners at the time of practical examination.
  9. Internal assessment in each subject shall be allotted on the basis of day to day class work, periodic examinations both theory and practical, attendance, discipline and general behavior and participation in extra curricular activities.

IDENTIFICATION AND UNIFORM

1. Students are required to wear a badge on left hand side of the uniform as well as their identity cards at all times.

2. Students must always wear neat/clean and ironed uniforms. Jewellery and long, painted nails are not allowed. Hair has to be neatly tied in a bun.

USAGE OF CELL PHONES

1. Students are not allowed to use mobile phones during working hours in class rooms and in clinical areas.

2. Any lost or damaged cell phone will not be the responsibility of the institute/administration.

3. Cell phones have to be turned off during working hours. Violators will be heavily fined.

Care of instruments and instruments

Students shall look after the equipment and instruments provided by the college with utmost care. Equipment damaged through careless handling will be charged to the student’s account. Students are directed to pay for damaged instruments, equipments and college property as and when advised by the college authorities. Such payments and dues must be cleared before requesting for a “No dues” certificate.

LIBRARY RULES

1. The Library will remain open from 8 am to 5pm on all working days.

2. Health Sciences Library Network (HSLIB NET) for providing access to e-resources and e- journals is also provided.

3. Before entering the library, the student has to sign the register kept at the entrance.

4. Books will be issued only on the display of the library card.

5. Eatables are not allowed in the library.

6. Silence and decorum must be maintained at all times.

7. Books will be issued strictly on first come first serve basis.

8. Three books for seven days shall be issued at once.

9. Books borrowed from the library are not transferable.

10. Students must report damaged or defaced books to the librarian immediately.

11. If a book is defaced or damaged the student will have to pay for the book. In case the damaged book is one of the set or series, the cost of whole set or series shall be recovered on prevailing price.

12. Reference books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, yearbooks and dissertations shall not be issued from the library.

13. Periodicals, publications and newspapers placed in reading section cannot be taken away from library premises.

14. After completion of the course, the library card has to be returned to the library. In case of loss of the library card the defaulter will have to pay Rs. 100/- .

15. The librarian has the right to tell a user to leave the library, if she is found to be violating any of the library rules.

Items required to be brought by the students at the time of admission in the hostel:

 HOSTEL RULES

1. The following rules are to be strictly followed by hostellers

2. It is mandatory for the students to maintain discipline in the hostel area.

3. Compulsory study hours for students are from 8:30 PM to 11:00 PM. No other activity is permitted during these hours

4. Furniture care & cleanliness of the rooms is the sole responsibility of the students.

5. Lights and fans should be switched off at the time of leaving the room.

6. Proper maintenance of windows & doors is the responsibility of the students.

7. No cooking is allowed in the hostel rooms.

8. As far as possible heavy cash & valuables are to be avoided. Loss of any valuables will be the sole responsibility of the concerned students.

9. Electrical appliances i.e. iron, heater, electric rod, electric kettle etc. are not allowed in the hostel rooms.

10. Meals cannot be taken outside the dining room. Before and after the fix time, meals will not be served.

11. Medical problems are to be reported to the on duty warden immediately.

12. Sick students must inform the warden/ housekeeper about the need of any special diet well ahead in time.

13. Students are allowed to have visitors on Saturdays from 1:00p.m to 4:00pm and on Sundays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Visitors are prohibited to go to students’ rooms.

14. Night stay card will be issued to each student. For lost/completed card student has to pay Rs 50/- for a new one. The student has to put her own photo along with a photo of the parent/guardian with specimen signature of each on the night stay card.

15. Parents/guardians can only meet the students by presenting visitor pass to the warden.

16. Students are allowed to go home only after getting permission from Director/Principal or on the recommendation of teacher in charge and must report back in time, as mentioned on the night stay card issued to the students.

17. Students have to cooperate with authorities on periodical/general checking of the rooms and belongings of the students.

18. Hostellers are allowed to visit their parents after every 7 or 15 days provided an application duly signed by the parents is submitted in the office.

19. Students will not be allowed to go for an outing unless they are accompanied by the parents/guardian or self authority form has to be signed by parents.

20. Day scholars are not permitted to go to the hostel area/ rooms. They are not permitted to go to the mess during hostel lunch time. They can go to the canteen. Violators will be heavily fined.

21. The duration of the course shall be four academic years including internship. The students are required to attend all classes and practicals in each subject. The medium of course shall be English.

PROHIBITION OF RAGGING : AS PER THE HIMACHAL PRADESH EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS (PROHIBITION OF RAGGING) ANTI RAGGING ACT 2009, RAGGING IS COMPLETELY PROHIBITED.

1. No person shall practice ragging in any form, within or outside the premises of an educational institution.

2. Any person who contrivances the provisions of sub-section (1) shall, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 years or with fine which may extend to fifty thousand rupees or with both.

3. Every offence under this act shall be cognizable, non-bailable and compoundable with the permission of the court.

4. Any student convicted of an offence under this act shall be expelled from the educational institution.

5. Student expelled under sub-section (1) or expelled otherwise on account of ragging shall not be admitted in any other institution for a period of three years from the date of order of such expul sion.

Advisory For Fresher’s

1. All freshers will be advised at the time of registration and during orientation programs under the direction of the concerned head of institution.

2. The advisory will include the following points:-

3. Freshers should not hesitate or feel shy of reporting any incident of ragging either as a victim or as witness.

4. Freshers should move in groups (particularly in the hostel). They should be advised that they may resist individually or collectively any attempt by seniors toward bulling or ragging and immediately report to any of the authority who’s contact detail are made available to them.

5. The important contact no should be entered & saved in their mobile phones.

There is special counseling committee of senior teachers to guide them or to council then on monthly basis or whenever needed by the students.
